Treehouse of Horror V - The Shinning

Starting to get into the Halloween spirit, and what better way than to do my annual Treehouse of Horror fanart. This time I went with the Shinning segment and as you can see I put a psycho looking Homer stalking through the frozen hedge maze. It would have been cool to see them add this to the end of the segment.
Time to start thinking about what to do for next year.

Ro-Men vs the Space Mutant

I love the Ro-Men from the Robot Monster movie. Too bad there weren't more movies with them having adventures on other planets.

Count Dracula

Just finished another painting recently. I based it off an great old photo of Bela Lugosi as Dracula. I wasn't too thrilled with it at first but its starting to grow on me. I was worried that Bela looked more like Norm McDonald or Jimmy Carr than himself.  I love Lugosi's movies. The cheaper and cornier the better.
This is 18 x 24, acrylic on canvas

I stopped to visit Lugosi's grave while on a trip to LA back in 2001

More Paintblogging: Poison Apple part 2

I was hoping to have a lot more of this painting done by now, but I got a new job that has been eating up a ton of my time. I've gotten a lot done on it and I'm happy with how it has been going.
I'd like to say I'm going to take more pictures and do more blog updates, but I just know thats not going to happen.

More Paintblogging: Poison Apple

I'm gonna try my hand at some paintblogging again. This time its from a drawing of the Old Hag from "Snow White". I originally drew the scene a few years ago, but I thought I could do a better job so I went back and drew it again. I did the coloring in photoshop to help decide what colors I want to use on the painting.

Then I re sketched the image onto a 12 x 24 canvas.

Next I get to crack out the paints again. I'll post some more updates when I get further along.

Frankenstein vs the Wolfman

This picture doesn't have much to do with the movie that inspired it, I was just fooling around.

Prince Prospero

Vincent Price as Prince Prospero from "Masque of the Red Death"
Acrylic on canvas, 12 x 16

Such a great movie. Its hard to pick a best one out of the Roger Corman / Edgar Allan Poe films, but this one has to be right up there. I finally got a copy of it on Blu ray last year and it looks fantastic. I highly recommend to anyone to pick up the Vincent Price Collection blu ray sets.

The Green Slime

This is a drawing of the monster from this great cheesy 70's scifi flick. I still only have a copy of this on VHS, I wonder if its out anywhere on BLU.

Besides the great battle scenes between space soldiers and an army of monsters the real highlight of the movie might be the theme song.

Grandpa Munster

Another Acrylic portrait, I like trying to find interesting faces to try and paint. I based this off a photo of him I found online, I made the hair and the eyebrows a little wilder than they were in the pic. I really like how it turned out.
